The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (research organization) is the leading organization for applied research in Europe. Fraunhofer maintains 67 research institutes. The Fraunhofer-Institute for Environmental, Safety, and Energy Technology UMSICHT develops applied and custom-made process engineering technologies. The customers are industrial enterprises, service companies and public authorities.
Fraunhofer is the coordinator of BioSuck. Fraunhofer will carry out several lab-scale experiments including the production of bioenergy (biocoal) from waste streams (WP4) that will be defined in the project (WP3). Moreover, Fraunhofer is going to elaborate the theoretical tasks of defining waste accumulation scenarios (WP1) and to complete the decision support system (WP6). The intended case study will be supervised and carried out (WP2). Fraunhofer will manage BioSuck and will contribute to dissemination activities.
